Trained?
Yes, the technician is trained now: but to retain Skill Level classification the Mechanic must continue to learn. Below is a schedule of skills maintaining.
- Continuing Education Units 750 points PER YEAR; from any internet source.
- 16 Clock hours PER YEAR; any in-person training. Tech will be awarded 8 hours per day of trainings or hour for hour example (Bosch Dealers Training 4 hours equals 4 hours).

I have been in the bicycle industry for years, why do I need training?
Answer; you do not need training, maybe a refresher. How about being a mentor for the new mechanic to work towards.
Grandfathered
Answer; 100% just provide documentation, All previous learning will be accepted.
You only have to get a college degree once
Now the BAD NEWS:
Cost
Being upfront; the money will be used to:
- Create and maintain a searchable data base for members
- Create and maintain a job and networking boards
- Updates on training opportunities or links to trainings
- The leg work needed to coronate training efforts ; i.e. with Sea Otter, CABDA. To foster a possible discount program with Industry partners.
All that, but how much?
- 1st time enrolling will be $200 Dollars per individual
- Yearly Renewable Membership will be $100
- Shops that have one or more Accredited Mechanics; $350 first year and placed on a locator map.
- Shop yearly Renewable Membership will be $175

Future Plan:
- Offer stand alone training weekends or workshops
- The ability to partner with a Technical College to turn your learning into a Higher Education Credits
- Work with all of you to understand what you would like to see.
